These days there is a tremendous amount of debate and written material about our nation’s food system and its impact on Mother Nature. Journalist, scientists and experts have written countless books on the subject matter. Often times these projects are saturated with industrial food facts and shock value and overlook the voice of our American farmers and community organizers who are trailblazing a new paradigm. That is where The Unconventional Harvest differs.
In the summer of 2009 I rode a bicycle 4,300 miles for 5 months across America rediscovering our food system and rural communities. Along the way I interviewed farmers of all practices, activists, educators, food entrepreneurs, and others, to capture the rich flavors of those strongly connected to the land and creating a sustainable future.
The Unconventional Harvest sheds light on new voices making a difference and tells the story of those individuals with a personal travelogue full of humor and wit.
